A Parable of A Queen

Next in the On the Square Developmental Play Reading Series, A Parable of A Queen by Alex DeWitt.  A fellow Wisconsinite, we’ve gotten to know Alex through one of our professors at University of Wisconsin, Norma Saldivar.  We are thrilled to be working with Alex- not to mention a fellow cheesehead!  Here’s a brief summary of the play:

“A Parable of a Queen” is the passionate tale of a woman’s power set in an allegorical kingdom far away and long ago. It is an intricate story of intrigue, love, lust, loyalty and trust, the intersection of three people whose deep desires conflict with their duties and obligations to the court, the hierarchy and each other.

While in Astoria…

Posted in Friends of On the Square on November 6, 2010 by On the Square Productions

Do as the Astorians do…and all good Astorians know about the Brick Cafe on 31st Ave and 33rd St. A mixture of Mediterranean and continental cuisine, it’s both cozy and elegant at the same time. It’s definitely one of OTSP’s favorite haunts for either brunch or dinner.

There is something for everyone here. Whether its their $25 Prix Fixe Menu, their Live Music Night every Wednesday, or their upcoming Holiday Shopping night, you must make The Brick Cafe part of your Astoria experience. Also the olive spread they give you with your bread is amazing!

One of the most wonderful things about the Brick is their support of local artists. We were so lucky to work with them on Midsummer, earlier this year, as they hosted our opening night festivities. The service is superb and the drinks were flowing! Check out their menus! We will be working with them again this fall on Monroe, Illinois: Over Here/Townie. They have offered to host an Astoria Artist’s Brunch for us in the near future, so be sure and stay tuned to our blog and website for more details.

Please take the time to check out their website, http://www.brickcafe.com/ and pay a visit to one of those upcoming events. Whether its brunch or dinner- you won’t be disappointed!
