Doug Roland is Danny Hunt in “Over Here”

Doug Roland has been a friend of On the Square for a long time, and we are thrilled to be working him on a main stage production!  Doug plays Danny Hunt, Patty’s son, and Nora’s brother in Over Here.  Like Nora, Danny struggles to find peace with his mother and deceased father.  Often the comic relief, Danny will both make you laugh and break your heart.

Doug Roland ( Danny – Over Here) is excited to be working with his friends at On the Square Productionsagain. Some NYC theater credits include originating the role of Elliot in Wolves (59E59 Theaters), Don Juan inDon Juan Does New Jersey (The Alternate Theater), The Brig (The Living Theater), The Pantyhose Grid (NYCFringe), Mary Brigit Poppleton is Writing a Memoir (NYC Fringe), and Muffin (Samuel French Festival). Amongother film credits, Doug recently produced, co-directed, and acted in the short film Kidwalker, which premieredat the Big Apple Film Festival at Tribeca Cinemas. Doug is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin and theconservatory program at Michael Howard Studios.

Rachel McPhee is Nora Hunt in “Over Here”

You might know Rachel McPhee has the Co-Artistic Producing Director of On the Square Productions, but in Monroe, Illinois:  Over Here/Townie she’ll be showing off her skills on the stage.  Rachel portrays Nora Hunt, Patty’s estranged daughter who returns home for her father’s funeral, who died in Iraq.

“Adding Machine’s” Cyrilla Baer is Patty Hunt!

We here at On the Square couldn’t have been more thrilled when Cyrilla Baer signed on to do Monroe Illinois:  Over Here/Townie.  A Chicago import, Cyrilla has been rocking the New York Theatre scene for over 2 years now.  Maybe your caught her recently in NYMF’s “PopArt?”  Cyrilla stars as Patty Hunt in Over Here– the widowed matriarch of the Hunt Family.  Her husband, Joe Hunt has just died in Iraq.  Patty’s two kids- Nora and Danny struggle to understand their critical mother, and scene is set.

Becca Hackett Stars As “Townie”

Well Monroe, Illinois:  Over Here/Townie is just around the corner, and we would like to take the opportunities over the next few days to introduce you to our lovely cast.  Meet Becca Hackett who is “Townie”- the solo show that spans nearly 40 years of one woman’s life.  It’s the ultimate woman’s monologue!  Read more about her below and buy your tickets here!

Becca Hackett is from Portland, ME and comes to NYC by way of Emerson College in Boston. She is a performance and visual artist.  Most recent acting credits:  Co- Author of and actor inSeries 6.2: Paint On Canvas (Fringe NYC) Standing Clear (CoffeCup (a theatre co.), I,Kreon (NewMoon/Roust Theatre Co.). Favorite Roles include Germaine from Picasso at the Lapin Agile, Prospero in The Tempest, and Lady Macbeth/Hecate in Macbeth (UK/US) Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet (Edinburgh Fringe Fest). She has studied performance with Studio 5 (Aole T. Miller, Per Brahe), and Viewpoints with Julie Troost at the Monarch Theatre.

Jackie LaVanway is Hippolyta/Peaseblossom!

Midsummer opens tomorrow! And only two more cast members left to unveil. Jackie LaVanway is not only the Co-Founder and Co-Artistic Producing Director here. She also couldn’t resist the opportunity to frolic in the back garden- So she pulls double duty as Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons, and Peaseblossom- one of the fairies. Read more about her here!

Jackie LaVanway (Hippolyta/Peaseblossom, Co-Artistic Producing Director) is one half of On the Square Productions alongside Rachel McPhee. She simply could not pass up this opportunity to frolic in the back garden with such a talented group of actors! Jackie holds BA in Theatre and Communications from the University of Wisconsin, and continued her training at Michael Howard Studios. Performance credits: Lucy in Quake for the MITF Festival, Samantha in Uncommon Women and Others, and Sophie DePalma in Master Class. Producer Credits: Quake, Ingenue, and America: A Problem Play for the Planet Connections Festival. As an Associate General Manager, Jackie just completed Heading East, a musical reading starring BD Wong at the Asia Society. Jackie also works at New World Stages/Stage Entertainment USA as the Executive Assistant. Love to her friends, family, and Tim- thanks for believing in our vision! Colleen Harris is Peter Quince!

Meet the fabulous Colleen Harris- a woman of many talents!
Colleen Harris has worked as an actor, singer, musical director, and composer at venues across the country. She earned her BS in Theatre at the University of Evansville in Indiana, and her MFA in Acting at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. As an actor, Colleen has most recently performed at ACT (mainstage), Zeum Theater (SF), FringeNY, DC Fringe, The Player’s Theater (NY), Baltimore Theatre Project, Source Festival (DC), and Bococa Arts Festival (NY). Her original music has been commissioned by The College of Marin in California and the University of Maryland. Colleen is currently a rising talent in New York’s cabaret world. Her latest show, Colleen Harris: This Time, will return to New York this August. Proud member of Actors’ Equity.

Michael Raver as Lysander

Michael is a man of many talents- he’s also a playwright. This weekend, at the Time Out New York Lounge, On the Square Productions will present a reading of his adaptation of “The Picture of Dorian Gray” in honor of Pride Week! Michael Raver (Lysander) Graduated with a BFA in acting and playwriting from Pace University; recipient of the 2006 Theater Award. Off-Broadway: Vieux Carré (u/s; The Pearl Theatre Company), The Persians (with National Actor’s Theatre). Lincoln Center: Romeo and Juliet and Julius Caesar (Aquila Theatre Company). Regional credits include The Miracle Worker (Ivoryton Playhouse, 3 Connecticut Critic’s Circle Nominations), Romeo and Juliet (Sierra Rep), The Mousetrap (Bristol Valley Theatre), Persephone and The Glass Menagerie (New Company Theatre). New York credits include: Romeo & Juliet, Macbeth, Richard III, Hamlet, Othello, Long Day’s Journey into Night, The Tempest, The Exonerated, Much Ado About Nothing and Brighton Beach Memoirs. Film/TV credits include The Fishermen, One Night Stand, Gone Away, and Spider-Man 2. As a playwright he has written over three dozen works, including an adaptation of Jhumpa Lahiri’s Pulitzer Prize winning story “A Temporary Matter,” entitled Quiet Electricity and most recently, an adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Gray. Michael is a proud member of AEA.
