Got $5 to Spare for the Square?

Posted in On the Square Productions News with tags , , on May 24, 2010 by On the Square Productions

As many of you know, On the Square Productions will be performing “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” July 8-11th and July 15th-18th in a beautiful Astoria green space/garden. Casting is nearly complete (and will be announced shortly) but in the meantime, we need your help!

We are in the midst of our great fundraising campaign! As a certified 501(c)3 not for profit under Fractured Atlas.

Every little bit helps, and we’re NOT kidding! Here’s a cost breakdown to help illustrate what we mean:
$5 =photocopies, scripts, programs
$10=a can of paint or brushes for the set
$20=a cast members costume
$50= approximately one full rehearsal
$100-$200 pays for one full performance at an NYC venue

Donations can be made online by credit card here https://www.fracturedatlas.org/site/contribute/donate/1594

Please consider donating to OTSP. You support means a great deal to us. We couldn’t do it without all of you!

We’re Just Wingin’ It!

Wingin' It!

Wingin' It!

Got written work you’d like to read? Well come on down to Manny’s for “Wingin’ It” on Saturday, May 15th from 4-8pm and bring your stuff! Manny’s is located on 1770 2nd Ave. between 91st and 92nd St.

Here’s the scoop:
Basically, bring whatever material you would like to have read. You choose anyone out of the audience to read your piece. We’re wingin’ it, folks. We will also need ready and willing actors in the audience!

Couple basic guidelines for scripts:

1. Please bring enough scripts for each role in your piece (and an extra script for stage directions)
2. Please choose a piece that is no longer than 20 minutes
3. Please make sure there are no more than 6 characters in your piece (the stage is not too large, so any more characters than 6 might get a little cramped)
4. Please e-mail the piece(s) you would like to have read to Rachel (rlmcphee@gmail.com) or Jackie (jlavanway@gmail.com) no later than Saturday, May 8th.

We STRONGLY encourage works that are in progress!

After the “plays-readings” will be a FREE BUFFALO WING BUFFET! All you can eat. (buffet starts at 6:30).

In addition, we will have some awesome drink specials (from 4-8pm): $8 pitchers of light beer, $3 well drinks

Here is the specific Schedule:

4 – 4:30 pm — Socializing, Set-up, Getting scripts in order, Getting drinks, etc. (allwriters must arrive at 4)
4:30 – 6:15 pm —Play readings
6:30 – 7:30 pm — FREE buffalo wing buffet!
7:30 – 8 pm — Drink and Schmooze

We will be asking for a donation of $5 at the door. All donations help support On the Square Productions!

Hope to see you all there!
xoxo

2010 Tony Nominations!

Posted in Broadway Buzz on May 4, 2010 by On the Square Productions

So the 2010 Tony Nominations have just been announced here.

Looks like Fela! takes the cake for most nominations, and I’m embarrassed to say that I haven’t seen it yet! It’s on TDF so I really have no excuse. Personal favorites of the season are A Little Night Music (nominated for best revival) and Jan Maxwell, both for Lend Me a Tenor and The Royal Family.

Also Rachel and I applied to be seat fillers for the Tonys, so fingers crossed for us. I’d love to fill any one of their chairs!

xoxo
